Extend your stay
Sometimes one year as an au pair leaves you wanting more. If your first year was a fabulous adventure, and you want to stay longer, you can choose to extend by a few months or another year.
You can stay with your current host family, try life in another part of America, gain more experience and keep traveling with new friends - we make it easy for you to continue your wonderful journey.
Returning to America for a second year
Many au pairs tell us that after going home they miss life in America. If that sounds like you, the good news is you can come back again!
To return for a second year, you must:
- Have successfully completed 12 months on a US au pair program
- Provide your certificate of completion issued by your sponsor as proof
- Have lived outside the USA for at least two years after your first program
Maybe you spent your first year by the sea and want to experience life in the Mid-West next time. Or perhaps you still want to visit places like Miami, Seattle or Colorado. A second year is your chance to see even more, and APIA has host families in 41 states to choose from.
