Program fees
Our program fee covers the full support package you need for your time in the USA, with guidance from our experienced teams 24/7.
You only pay your program fee when you have matched with your host family. Payment is made securely through your personal Au Pair in America account.
What’s included in the Au Pair in America package
Before you go
We help you every step of the way through the application, interview, and matching process. Before you travel, you’ll receive:
One-to-one support from our team
A personal interview with one of our friendly team
Visa sponsorship and help with your J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa application
Your own profile on the Au Pair in America online matching platform
Online pre-departure training, including first aid and driving safety in the USA
When you arrive in the USA
Your support continues when you arrive. You’ll have:
Return flights to and from the USA
Our 3-day welcome and training session in the New York area
Free guided tour of New York City with your new au pair friends
Cultural advice and CPR training
Onward travel to your host family’s home
During your stay
During your year in America, you will have:
Three meals per day provided
Transport to attend your classes
Weekly allowance
Your own private bedroom in your host family home
At least 1.5 days off per week and one full weekend off per month
Two weeks of paid holiday, which is ideal for exploring more of the USA!
Local support from your Community Counsellor
Organised social events and activities with other au pairs in your area
24/7 emergency assistance if you ever need urgent help
A study allowance of up to $500 to use toward your chosen course of study
After you complete the program
You’ll have an extra one-month travel period to explore the USA before heading home.
You’ll have the option to extend your stay in the USA for 6, 9 or 12 months
If you successfully complete the program, you’ll be provided with a flight home at the end.
Additional costs
What’s not included
These costs are not included in the program fee:
- Travel to your interview, visa appointment or departure airport
- US Embassy visa application fee
- Criminal record check
- Medical forms and medical appointment fees (if needed)
- International Driving Permit (apply before you travel)
- Spending for your first two weeks in the USA
- Luggage fees for your flights may be required
- Any study costs over the host family’s contribution
It’s important to plan for these costs when you plan the program. Also consider if you need warmer clothes if you are going to a colder part of the USA!
